Operations Management is the systematic design, direction, and control of all kind of transformation processes occurring in companies and along the supply chain. The aim of the course is to look into some more advanced research-oriented aspects of operations management which are recently applied or may be used in the near future by companies. The module contains the following 6 weekly units: Advanced lot-sizing Advanced scheduling Integrated Production Planning Advanced inventory management Warehouse operations and advanced vehicle routing Supply chain contracts and revenue management Participation in the classroom meetings is strongly recommended, because many relevant topics will be discussed there. The grading will be based on the best 3 out of 5 weekly tests and a 90 min. exam during the exam week. The weekly tests are always scheduled for Tuesday before the lecture. You can gain 15 points on each test. The final exam will be 65 points worth. So the maximum you can reach is 110 points. A minimum of 50 points overall, 15 points for the weekly quizzes and 25 points for the final test are necessary to pass the course.

Although the course title on Moodle is eSports Economics and Management, the content of this course focuses primarily on economics and management in traditional sports. eSports will therefore not be the main focus of the course. This Seminar explores Consumer Stock Ownership Plans (CSOPs) as an innovative financing technique to broaden capital ownership while facilitating investments in climate adaptation and mitigation measures. It discusses four core challenges in sustainability finance: sustainable equilibrium and homeostasis in socio-ecological / economic systems; the externalisation vs. internalisation of production costs; the application of true cost accounting; and  the design of alternative revenue streams to support long-term sustainability investments.

This course aims to provide an introduction to the topic of diversity, equality and inclusion in marketing and consumer behavior for students at the Master level. Objectives: The course provides an introduction to marketing communication. Participants will learn to understand theories and empirical findings in marketing communication research and the influence of marketing communications on consumers. Please note: This course provides an academic view on marketing communication, not a practitioner’s view. Structure: The primary objective of the course will be achieved through class meetings. Students will follow the lecture. Questions related to a particular class (both content and administrative issues) will be answered during that class and during the following class but not thereafter, outside of class meetings, or via email

Students will be introduced to the foundations of production planning in the automotive industry. A selection of classical automotive planning problems will be tackled in group projects by standard approaches from the field of Operations Research entailing the use of optimization software. A selection or all of the following planning problems will be considered: Strategic network planning Aggregate production planning / Capacity planning Master production scheduling Assembly line balancing Assembly line sequencing

Master Seminar (6671) “(Gen)AI in Marketing” - Winter Term 2026/2027  Content This seminar introduces students to the transformative role of (Gen)AI in marketing. Participants will explore how (Gen)AI reshapes marketing practices across research, strategy, and action (i.e., marketing mix), by automating tasks, enhancing human capabilities and, at times, replacing them. Students will critically engage with the promises and perils of (Gen)AI in marketing across the different stakeholders of the marketing ecosystem. The seminar also equips students with academic research skills by guiding them through the process of conceptualizing, writing, and presenting a research proposal. Application Procedure and Prerequisites The seminar deals with topics related to (Gen)AI in marketing. Abschlussbedingungen     Course Overview (read this entire document carefully)   The goal of this seminar is to offer students guided participation and insights into the production and presentation of real-life and on-going research. At the heart of this seminar is the participation in the Berlin Applied Micro Seminar (BAMS) seminar, which is a weekly seminar, jointly organized by DIW Berlin, Hertie School, HU Berlin, FU Berlin, TU Berlin, WZB, ESMT Berlin, European University Viadrina, the Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies (BCCP), the Rockwool Foundation, and the SFB TRR 190. BAMS is also one of the many activities within the Berlin School of Economics (https://berlinschoolofeconomics.de/home). In the BAMS seminar series selected national and international speakers are invited to present and discuss their on-going research to applied and policy-related topics.Requirements: students should have a sound background in quantitative research methods.   Part I of the course takes place online.   Time: the seminar takes place online and in live-sessions from 14.00 to 15.15 on Mondays. For this, an upload link will be provided on the moodle webpage.   Part 2) For Part 2, this seminar will change into an in-person format taking place at the Viadrina. Students will present and critically discuss one of the presented papers from Part 1, or an alternative paper assigned, to the student group.  For the final assessment, there will be a written exam, where students needs to answer critically questions related to some of the paper presented/discussed during parts 1/2.  To pass the seminar, full participation in all parts is required.   Format: online and in-person Note on this: in the BAMS seminar series researchers from all around the world (but mostly Europe) present and discuss their own ongoing work.
